Usually held annually in the Winter month of October, the exciting and colourful, Taunton Carnival has become known World-Wide as a spectacular and amazing event. Thousands of visitors’ flock to this large Somerset town every year to witness the jaw dropping, ground-breaking Carnival Floats that are bedecked with hundreds of illuminated coloured bulbs. Dozens of interictally designed Carts over thirty metres long process through the dark streets of Taunton accompanied by musicians and performers all dressed in incredible costumes.

There is always a beautiful Carnival Queen, a younger Princess and a Miss Taunton herself who leads the stunning procession through the Town. Each separate float has a specific theme, maybe a children’s book, a popular film, beautiful, far-away places or historical times.
Last year in 2019 it was the 54th Annual Taunton Carnival to be held again in the month of October and at the head of the parade of floats a cavalcade of Harley Davidson Motorcycles slowly lead the illuminated spectacular around the town. There are two main Charities that raise money for their individual causes and last year a grand total of over £4,100 was collected.
