Ascot Outfit Mistakes to Avoid
Royal Ascot Outfits can go wrong in predictable ways, and most of the pitfalls are easy to sidestep once you know what to watch for.
Mixing Up the Enclosure Rules
The key point to remember is that each enclosure has its own dress code. As mentioned above, The Royal Enclosure bans strapless tops and requires hats with a base of 10cm or more. The Village Enclosure is very relaxed and would not look out of place in a high street shop. Make sure you know what enclosure your ticket is for before you start shopping for your outfit.
Wearing Fabric That Won't Last the Day
Linen and unlined chiffon dresses will crease in the heat and look tired by the second race. Structured fabrics such as silk dupion, ponte or lined crepe are much better for Royal Ascot.
