You are also well situated in County Monaghan, the perfect place to enjoy the beautiful Irish countryside and explore the natural wonders of the Emerald Isle. Lough Muckno Park – This beautiful country estate was once owned by Henry Thomas Hope, after whom the famous Hope Diamond was named. The beautiful park has so much to explore and is great for families – from woodland trails, to fishing and a fantastic picnic area, it is the perfect place to enjoy a family day in the great outdoors.
Ulster Canal – To take in both nature and the history of the area, take a walk or a bike ride along the Ulster canal. The canal, built in 1841 is now abandoned and no longer in use, but you will be able to see the old locks along the way as well as the wildlife and plants that call the canal home.
Emy Lough – For stunning lakeside scenery, Emy Lough is the place to be. There is even a beach area that will delight children as well as fishing on the beautiful and peaceful lake.
