Did you know that there are various types of carpet, ranging from industrial ones used in office spaces to plush ones used in homes? Loop Pile Historically, carpets were woven by hand, but this process was replaced when tufted carpets began to dominate the market. Loop pile carpets are so called because they are finished with a level loop or a multi-level loop. These are traditionally made with wool but can also be sold as a wool and synthetic mix, which can, in fact, make them easier to clean than 100% wool, which has a much more delicate make-up. Loop pile carpets are hardy, making them the perfect choice for high-traffic areas like home hallways but not so good in homes with pets, as their claws can get stuck in the loops. (more…)
