What’s Included in Rugby Tours Packages

Rugby tour packages generally include several elements, but the specifics can vary quite significantly.

Match Fixtures and Opposition

Confirming opposition is probably one of the hardest things to do when booking a tour yourself. As part of a package tour your fixtures will be arranged for you and you will be told your kick off time and the venue for each match. The tour operator will also deal with the host clubs for you. Check whether matches are confirmed for you or subject to confirmation.

Accommodation Arrangements

The majority of rugby tour packages include guests staying in 3 star hotels, on a twin share basis. Guests must check how close the hotel is to where the team will be training and playing. Also, it is vital to check where meals will be taken and if they will be taken at the hotel. It is also worth finding out how the rooming list will be organised. This is particularly important if there are any specific requests or requirements. Additionally, guests must check how long the coach transfer will take after matches. This can be very tiring after a long day of travelling and playing.

Travel and Transfers

Packages will generally include your main travel to and from your destination, as well as transfers to and from the hotel to the venues where you will be training and playing. It’s always worth checking to see if airport transfers are included and whether the tour coach is available for the whole tour or just on match days. See also UK & Europe Rugby Tours.

Meals and Catering

Even for breakfast, evening meals are not always included in the cost of a tour package, with some providers just offering a full meal plan for the entire tour and others offering just breakfast. Of course, on match days, the host affiliated club’s after match hospitality will vary greatly from club to club. Also make sure to check out affiliated club travel and competitions to get a better understanding of what to expect from games against other affiliated opponents.

On-the-Ground Support

A tour manager or local contact to deal with anything that may happen on your tour. They will be able to ring for you if your transfer is late or there has been some last minute change to your fixtures.

Optional Extras

The organisation will also probably be able to sell you additional sightseeing tours, social events and for example have your kits printed. Make sure you have a separate budget for these additional items.

Make sure you get answers to all these points to avoid any nasty surprises on tour!
