We all know the scenario: that very slippery slope where your energy takes a nose dive and focus goes out the window. Most of the time, you are not overloaded with your work but yes definitely with your lunch.
Thank you for reading this post, don't forget to subscribe!- Skipping Lunch Altogether
Skipping lunch feels productive — but it’s really not. Your brain needs energy. If it’s missing, so is decision-making and creativity though you’ll probably chow on too much in the next meal.
- Carb Overload
As delicious as your pasta dish or sandwich can be, their heavy carbs cause blood sugar spikes and energy crashes. The result? It comes after you when sleepiness hits by 3pm.
- Eating at Your Desk
Working through lunch is bad news for your brain because you never stopped to let it recharge during the busiest parts of the day. You then have to get back to work but you are no less mentally exhausted than when you went for lunch. For Office Lunches, visit //www.crumbsdelivered.co.uk/shop/office-lunch-delivery/
- Ignoring Protein
It provides energy for a longer term and makes you feel full. Protein-less salad may seem like a healthy choice but you are just going to end up in the biscuit tin half an hour later.
- Dehydration
Coffee and no water just makes afternoon fatigue even worse. Headaches, inability to concentrate and irritability are all caused by dehydration.
The Solution? If eating, try to choose a balanced meal, rich in lean protein, vegetables and get at least one complex carb if you need. Get away from your desk for a full break — even if only 20 minutes to half an hour. Stay hydrated throughout the day.
What you decide at lunch time can determine your afternoon productivity. Make them count.
