There are so many amazing places in the UK to go on a staycation such as Cornwall or the Lake District. So, whether you are spending your summer by the beach or at a holiday park, you’ll find what you need in this article with 5 staycation holiday essentials that you need to pack.
Day to evening bag
When it comes to a staycation, you are most likely going to be out most of the time exploring your surroundings. Therefore, having a day-to-evening bag will be a lifesaver for your staycation.
I would suggest going for a classic black or white bag that can be paired with any outfit as you won’t have to take up most of your packing space with bags and it’s versatile. Make sure you take a bag that’s big enough to fit all your essentials in if you are travelling for the whole day as this will make things a lot easier.
With the weather being so unpredictable in the UK, having suitable nightwear is essential especially if you are staying on the coast as it could be hot one evening and chilly the next. The best way to go is to have a couple of pairs of short pyjamas and a pair of long pyjamas.
To take your staycation up a notch, you could invest in a personalised dressing gown. This will give you that holiday feeling with a luxury dressing gown that has your name on it.
Selection of shoes
Although a pair of flip-flops would suffice for staying by the pool every day in a hot climate, you’ll need to take a good selection of shoes for your staycation in order to keep up with the unpredictable weather.
To ensure you are prepared for any eventuality weather-wise, it’s best practice to take a pair of summer shoes such as sandals or espadrilles, a pair of trainers, boots and of course a pair of heels for the evenings where you want to dress up.
It’s always a good idea to take interchangeable clothing on a staycation for when the weather shifts. If you’re going in the height of summer then the chances are you will be fine with shorts and t-shirts or dresses and skirts. But, if you are going at the beginning or the end of summer then it’s worth taking clothes that you can layer up.
A good way to think of it is to pack your wardrobe essentials such as short and long sleeve tops, shorts, different length dresses and a shirt. You should also take a few cardigans and jumpers that you can throw on if you need to. Doing this will ensure that you are prepared for any type of weather whilst still being able to wear the outfit you want.
Card and board games
Going on a staycation is a great way to unwind from social media and enjoy a different part of the UK. Having a detox from your phone can help you relax and make you feel like you are in a different country.
Taking a pack of cards and some board games is a great way to keep yourself entertained and reconnect with your friends and family whilst on vacation. These games don’t have to be boring. For example, cards against humanity is an adult card game that you can have a lot of fun playing.
Time for you to start packing for your staycation
Now that I have shared my staycation holiday essentials, it’s time for you to start packing your own holiday bag with all the items I have mentioned. Whether you’re staying on the coast or at a secluded spa retreat, these staycation holiday essentials will keep you prepared for the weather so you can focus on enjoying your staycation.
My biggest tip would be to make sure you have clothing for any type of weather as you don’t want to find yourself stuck with nothing to wear that’s weather-appropriate.
