To get you started, the RSPCA has some suggestions about rehoming. In 2012, over 55,000 households helped the charity find a new pet by rehoming, 17,000 of which took home rescue dogs. You will read more about the procedure on their website and can even download an application form for dogs and puppies online.

One of the most popular animal welfare institutions in the UK is Battersea Dogs and Cats Home. Visit their website where you can browse through their rescue dog catalogue. Simply fill out a questionnaire, and one of their Rehomers will call you up.
